We said YES to help the Plastic Free North Devon Visitor Campaign 2019

Posted: 30 May 2019

Plastic Free North Devon is a local environmental movement started by volunteers who want to reduce the impact of plastic pollution on the environment in North Devon and beyond. Working with local councils, community groups, businesses, schools, residents and visitors they aim to:

• Raise awareness of the issue
• Reduce the amount of plastic consumed
• Clear waste plastic from the environment
• Ensure that it is recycled or disposed of appropriately.

If we all make small changes, great things can happen!

These are the changes we have made:

♻️ Vegware biodegradable straws, slush cups, cutlery for takeaway meals
♻️ Wooden spoons for hot drinks - no more one use plastic cutlery
♻️ Biodegradable baguette sleeves - no more plastic containers
♻️ We mainly stock cans of drinks instead of plastic bottles (apart from a few!)

♻️ Encourages the use of tote bags, reusable bottles & coffee cups which are available in our shop
♻️The shop doesn’t stock any fruit and veg wrapped in plastic (except for strawberries, raspberries)
♻️Very good, efficient system for recycling at the holiday park. All plastic, cans and cardboard is checked and recycled on site.
♻️We have created half a page in our welcome booklet which is given to 8000 customers. This states support for the Plastic Free Campaign

When you visit our on-site shop, you will see information and signs on what we have done to reduce plastic usage.

Director Naomi Richards Says: “We are really proud to be helping towards a plastic free Woolacombe & world! Seeing clean beaches & oceans is really important to us, and we will do everything we can to help towards a cleaner future.”
